Render dental services for LCDF in compliance with applicable standards for quality clinical care. Render professional dental services to patients, including examination, diagnoses, treatment and prevention of abnormalities and disease of the teeth, gums, and other dental issues; utilize dental instruments, including x-rays, to examine teeth, gums and related tissues to determine and identify conditions or diseases; treat inflammatory and destructive disease of dental tissue by cleaning and polishing teeth, correcting occlusions, and performing surgical procedures to remove the diseased tissue; use dental instruments to treat infected root canal and related tissues by removal of pulp from root canal; design treatment procedures for pediatric dentation (filings, toot canals, extractions) using knowledge of pediatric tooth anatomy. Record physiology of pediatric and geriatric jaws to determine correct shape and size of dental prostheses to correct natural and acquired deformation of the mouth and jaw; Advice and counsel patients on preventative measures; and establish monitoring program to administer and promote oral health practices. In connection with these duties, will apply theological knowledge of dentistry. Responsible for ensuring that all dental patients are provided with appropriate and respectful care and treatment that also complies with established standards of performance and quality control. Oversee and provide leadership for dental clinic staff, ensuring compliance with LCDF policies and established performance standards and guidelines of the dental profession. Develop, implement, and interpret appropriate and timely policies, procedures, and quality standards for the practice of Dental Medicine at LCDF. Provide effective leadership and management on a daily basis to dental staff, including recruitment and hiring activities, training, technical support/consultation, performance evaluation and feedback, and addressing employee issues, according to LCDF and HR policies. Periodically coordinate and conduct dental screenings at various local schools and agencies as requested and as appropriate. Use cost control measures in management of staff and use of materials. Ensure and adhere to safety practices in the workplace.
Must have DDS or DMD in Dentistry, General Dentistry, or Dental Surgery. Degree must be from an accredited college/university endorsed by the American Dental Association (ADA). Candidates must be licensed by the New Mexico Board of Dentistry to practice and must possess DEA certification, as well as New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification. Valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance are required. Must be able to use personal vehicle in course of employment, as needed. Must submit to LCDF required background check, TB screen, and drug testing. Candidates must have the ability to travel occasionally.
